RECALLING SOME GIGS END OF 2015....

Two eggs stuck on my head's lawn....

One is the poetry reading and performance at Keats House in Hampstead , north west London. What a place. Historical.
Plus....  the Brazilian rock group, Moondogs,( see joint pic with the  Rockers,  afterwards, author has a black hat and Bob Marley T shirt) who rounded up gigs at Bedroom Bar. What a fantastic 30 minutes. Most people expect Brazilians to sing in their native Portuguese. However, these guys, who had two other bands (i.e. three in one) rubbished the stereotype and shocked, awed and mesmerized us...in English but in their own Brazilian style.

To go back to  Keats House...
Named after the poet who died aged only 25 thinking he was what? A failure...
Were John Keats to rise right now from his grave...he would be shocked to learn his house is now a major cultural centre where poets join and holler and recite lines ...
Poet Rishi Dastidar....main guest of the day recites his beats at Keats....
Audience
Laila Sumpton in her element
Outside it was flowering blooming December...few days to Christmas. Yes Smile Keats, Smile
Words and more words. I loved the very words-cooking poet,  Sonority Turner, whose poem about Bees had so much to offer plus audience participation. She played with words like Revolution and Reflect...she taught and informed. London has so much talent ...its mind blowing. Blisteringly, true.
And to Bedroom Bar again...
Moondogs thrashed the place. It was raucous and melodic and expertly played. Beatles, Santanaeque, I thought of Paralamas do Successo, back in the days, yes! Palaramas were something of a Brazilian storm. Pity they rarely come to Europe....however,
Bedroom Bar has music every day...but the Monday Night slot is for Singer-songwriters and Wordsmiths (Spoken Word artists)...it is an Open MIC whereby every act gets 15 mins plus a free drink. Special space to test newly written material and get rid of nerves for inexperienced performers. Impressive acts get to be called again.
